One trend that seemed etched in stone was the notion that once you have a few what you may hear me call “life experience lines” around your eyes, matte eyeshadows should be your go-to option to create flattering looks.

But hey, where’s the fun in that?

Enter shimmer eyeshadows, the glimmering gems that can transform your makeup game.

Now, before you recoil in skepticism and envision a nightmare of 1980s flashbacks, let me assure you that shimmer has come a long way.

In fact, nowadays, cream eyeshadows have stolen my heart and become an indispensable part of my daily makeup routine.

So, what’s so great about cream eyeshadows, you ask?

I’ve discussed it myself at lengths, and I hear that when it comes to makeup, I feel like I say that all the time.
When it comes to eye makeup, once you get a few what I like to call life experience lines on and around your eyes that you should only really be using matte eyeshadow shadows to create flattering looks.
Well, I want to tell you, first of all, that there are no rules, and you hear me say this a lot because it’s makeup and it’s your face. So basically, you do whatever you want to on it, do what makes you feel good.

And I wear my shimmer on my eyes with pride.
Of course, my bougie bestie Armani and the creamy Liquid Eye Tint that will stay where it’s put all day can’t be neglected, so I have to mention the Armani liquid eye tint.

Okay, so this technique, I even named this episode about it, and after it, I guess I was getting carried away. But the idea is that your placement is key to shimmer eyeshadow, and it’s pretty simple, really.

So take a look at the shade of your shimmer eyeshadow. Is it darker than your skin tone? If it is, you want to use it in your eye crease area or on the contour of your eyelid. And if you head for the outer corner, you can create a lovely, soft, sculpted shape despite the fact that you’re using a shimmer product.

[00:03:23]: Now, if the shade is lighter than your skin tone. You want to create a highlight effect by using it in the center of your eyelid, which will help sculpt the eyeball shape of your eyelid.

So effectively, you’re still using shading and highlighting principles, but just in a different way. I like to think it’s sort of flipped on its side a bit. And you can also sweep just under your eyebrow. So just right under the bottom of your eyebrow on the outer half of your brow bone. And this can create a gorgeous soft highlight without being all over your lid. So that’s my one.
